Delhi L-G Saxena reviews progress of DDA projects Valued at Over Rs 45,000 Crore
Date: [25/01.2024]
Delhi Lieutenant Governor V K Saxena recently conducted a comprehensive review of ongoing Delhi Development Authority (DDA) projects with a collective value exceeding Rs 45,000 crore. The projects are anticipated to reach completion between February and April, with the potential to significantly transform the city’s landscape and contribute to the inclusive in situ rehabilitation of slum dwellers.
In an official statement released on Wednesday, the DDA highlighted the crucial role these projects play in reshaping Delhi’s cityscape and skyline. The statement also emphasized their positive impact on the comprehensive rehabilitation of slum dwellers in the capital.
The L-G, accompanied by senior officers from the DDA, meticulously assessed various aspects of the projects during the review. This included an in-depth examination of civil and electrical work, procurement processes, mandatory clearances, and the establishment of fixed timelines for project milestones.
Among the notable projects steered by Lieutenant Governor Saxena are initiatives like the rejuvenation of the Yamuna floodplains and the restoration of the historical Mehrauli Archaeological Park. Recent endeavors also include the restoration of the Shalimar Bagh-Sheesh Mahal complex. Furthermore, significant landmarks such as the historic St. James Church and the Mehrauli Archaeological Park have been successfully restored and dedicated to the public over the past few months.
Expressing satisfaction with the progress, Saxena highlighted the successful installation of various artifacts, including a substantial Nandi Statue at Yashobhoomi in Dwarka. Additionally, life-size elephant and lion figurines, along with fountains, were installed in Dwarka and Baansera, contributing to the aesthetic enhancement of these areas.
However, the statement noted Saxena’s serious concern regarding delays in the development of ‘Vaishnavi,’ a nursery-cum-garden-cum-recreational space in Ashok Vihar, north Delhi. The L-G underscored the importance of addressing these delays promptly to ensure the timely completion of the project.
As Delhi continues to witness ambitious urban development initiatives under the guidance of Lieutenant Governor Saxena, the ongoing projects underscore the commitment to enhancing the city’s infrastructure and preserving its historical and cultural heritage. The timely completion of these endeavors is expected to contribute significantly to the overall growth and well-being of the capital.
