India Marks 75th Republic Day with Grand Parade and Cultural Extravaganza

New Delhi, India – In a spectacular display of military prowess and cultural richness, India celebrated its 75th Republic Day with a grand parade in the heart of the capital, witnessed by thousands of enthusiastic spectators.

French President Emmanuel Macron, serving as the chief guest, graced the occasion, highlighting the strong diplomatic ties between India and France. The Republic Day commemorates the adoption of India’s Constitution on January 26, 1950, marking the country’s independence from British colonial rule.

The ceremonial boulevard came alive with a vibrant parade, showcasing India’s military might and diverse cultural heritage. President Draupadi Murmu accompanied President Macron in a ceremonial British-era horse-drawn carriage, a nostalgic return to tradition after four decades. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, donning a saffron-and-yellow turban, warmly greeted the chief guest at the viewing stand.

This prestigious event traditionally invites foreign leaders, and Macron’s presence continued the tradition of distinguished guests at the Republic Day celebration. In previous years, leaders like Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, former French President Francois Hollande, and former US President Barack Obama have graced the occasion.

The parade featured an impressive array of military assets, including tanks, missile systems, infantry combat vehicles, and medium-range surface-to-air missile systems. The meticulously coordinated march of hundreds of police and military personnel added to the grandeur of the event. Notably, stunt performers on motorbikes, including over 250 women, captivated the audience with their daring skills.

Macron, who accepted India’s invitation on short notice after US President Joe Biden’s unavailability, expressed his gratitude, stating, “A great honour for France. Thank you, India.”
