President Droupadi Murmu addressed the Parliament in a historic session, commencing the Budget session with a comprehensive overview of the government’s accomplishments and future vision. Highlighting a decade of progress under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, President Murmu emphasized that the government’s vision for a developed India extends beyond economic prosperity.
In her maiden address, President Murmu asserted that the government recognizes the significance of social, cultural, and strategic strengths in ensuring enduring development. She emphasized that decisions taken in the last ten years have been guided by this holistic approach, with a commitment to shaping a harmonious and prosperous future for the nation.
President Murmu celebrated the recent historic moment of the construction and consecration of the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya, stating that this achievement was a realization of centuries-old aspirations and faith for millions of citizens. She underscored the government’s commitment to preserving India’s cultural heritage, citing the significant influx of devotees to Ayodhya during the Pran Pratishtha.
Addressing economic achievements, President Murmu proudly declared India as the fastest-growing major economy, maintaining a growth rate of over 7.5% for two consecutive quarters amid global crises. She credited the government for transforming India from the ‘fragile five’ to a ‘top five’ economy, with increased exports, doubled FDI flows, and substantial growth in Khadi and Village Industries product sales.
President Murmu outlined the government’s focus on making farming more profitable, prioritizing over 10 crore small farmers in agricultural policies and schemes. She highlighted the success of the PM-Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme, where farmers have received over ₹2.80 lakh crore, and efforts to reduce farming costs while increasing profits.
Education and social welfare were key components of the President’s address, noting a significant reduction in the dropout rate and increased enrolment in higher education, especially among marginalized communities. She highlighted improvements in maternal healthcare under the Pradhan Mantri Surakshit Matritva Abhiyan, leading to a sharp decline in maternal mortality rates.
