“People of India are nice. I don’t blame the people, but I blame the criminals. People of India have treated me very well, and were very kind to me,” she said.

The alleged incident took place at Kurumahat in the Hansdiha police station area, approximately 300 km from the state capital Ranchi, when the couple was spending the night in a tent. Despite the traumatic experience, the survivor commended the hospitality she received during her six-month journey covering 20,000 km across India.

“We chose the place for the night stay because it was calm and beautiful. We thought it would be okay if we lived there alone,” she said, emphasizing that this unfortunate incident was a first-time occurrence.

The survivor, who urged girls to equip themselves to face challenging situations, acknowledged the difficulty but emphasized the importance of moving forward. “I know it’s hard and it’s not easy. You don’t forget, but you have to keep trying to leave it in the past,” she said.

Accompanied by her husband, the couple left for Bihar from where they will enter Nepal, as confirmed by Dumka’s Superintendent of Police, Pitamber Singh Kherwar. Expressing gratitude for the swift police action, the survivor’s husband thanked the authorities.

As the investigation unfolds, five more accused have been arrested in the case according to police sources. In total eight people have been taken into custody so far.
