Tragic Turn of Events: AI Startup CEO Arrested for Alleged Murder-Suicide Attempt in Goa
In a shocking turn of events, Suchana Seth, the 39-year-old CEO of Bangalore-based artificial intelligence startup Mindful AI Lab, has been arrested for the alleged murder of her four-year-old son in Goa. The incident occurred at a service apartment in Candolim, where she reportedly smothered her son and later attempted suicide by cutting her left wrist with a sharp object.
Seth was arrested in Chitradurga, Karnataka, after she traveled from Goa with her son’s body. The motive behind the tragic incident remains unknown. Currently undergoing divorce proceedings, Seth and her husband were estranged, with him residing in Jakarta, Indonesia.
On January 6, Seth checked into a rented service apartment in Candolim with her son and left for Bengaluru on January 8, leaving behind bloodstains on a towel in the apartment. The staff, discovering the bloodstains and an unusually heavy bag, alerted the police. Subsequently, the Chitradurga police found the child’s body in Seth’s bag, linking the bloodstains to her wrist injury.
Suchana Seth, an AI ethics expert and data scientist with over 12 years of experience, has held prominent positions, including being a Mozilla Fellow at Data & Society and a fellow at the Berkman Klein Centre at Harvard University. The tragic incident has left the community in shock, prompting a deeper exploration into the circumstances surrounding the alleged murder-suicide attempt.
