Tremors Shake Delhi-NCR Following 6.1 Magnitude Earthquake in Afghanistan
Delhi and several parts of North India experienced tremors today as a 6.1 magnitude earthquake struck Afghanistan. The National Center for Seismology reported that the earthquake’s epicenter was near Afghanistan, causing vibrations felt at approximately 2:50 pm.
The seismic activity prompted mild tremors in Delhi and neighboring regions. Similar effects were reported in Lahore, Pakistan, and parts of Jammu and Kashmir, including Poonch. Fortunately, there have been no immediate reports of casualties or property damage resulting from the earthquake.
Earthquakes in the region are not uncommon due to the geological dynamics of the Himalayan region. While this event caused momentary disruption and concern, the absence of significant impact underscores the importance of ongoing preparedness measures in earthquake-prone areas. Authorities and residents are advised to remain vigilant and adhere to safety protocols, emphasizing the need for robust infrastructure and public awareness to mitigate potential risks associated with seismic activities in the future.
