Greater Noida police take action after disturbing incident circulates on social media

In a shocking incident in Greater Noida, a minor boy is under investigation for allegedly throwing a puppy from a high-rise building, resulting in the animal’s death. The incident came to light after a video of the act surfaced on social media platforms.

The FIR, filed by a volunteer from the NGO People For Animals (PFA), revealed that the boy, aged approximately 9-10 years, resides in Tower R-14, Avenue Gaur City-2. The distressing act was recorded and shared on various society groups and social media platforms, encouraging others to replicate the cruel behavior.

The video depicts the young boy, reportedly under the supervision of an adult, callously picking up a nearly month-old puppy from a bush where it was hiding with its siblings. Despite the puppy’s desperate attempts to escape, the boy proceeded to carry it to the road. The puppy’s cries went unanswered as the boy heartlessly threw it from a height, resulting in its tragic demise.

The FIR has urged the juvenile court to intervene and assess the mental state of the child involved. PFA volunteer Surabhi Rawat expressed concern over the increasing incidents of cruelty towards animals in the society. She mentioned that recent incidents included intentional crushing of a puppy and the suspicious death of another, possibly due to poisoning.

PFA Trustee Ambika Shukla emphasized the urgent need to address the psychopathic tendency exhibited by the child. Shukla highlighted the dangerous precedent set by those who inflict harm on animals, emphasizing the potential tragic consequences of such behavior.

Recently, Rajya Sabha MP Saket Gokhale proposed a private member’s bill seeking to amend the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, aiming for stricter punishment for acts of cruelty towards animals. Gokhale’s bill suggests increasing the fine for such offenses to ₹1 lakh and imposing imprisonment of up to one year.

The incident has sparked widespread outrage, with many calling for immediate action against the child and advocating for stronger animal cruelty laws to deter such inhumane acts.
