New Delhi: The Delhi Police has formally called upon Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal to provide evidence substantiating his recent allegations that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) attempted to lure seven Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLAs with an offer of ₹25 lakh each to switch sides.

Mr. Kejriwal has been instructed to submit the evidence by Monday, as part of the ongoing investigation into his claims. Last month, the Delhi Chief Minister asserted that the BJP, through threatening his imminent arrest in the Delhi Liquor Police case, engaged with around 21 AAP MLAs, attempting to persuade seven of them to defect.

In a tweet on X (formerly Twitter), Kejriwal outlined the alleged conversation, stating, “Recently, they [BJP] have contacted 7 of our MLAs of Delhi and said – ‘We will arrest Kejriwal after a few days. After that, we will break the MLAs. Talks have been held with 21 MLAs. Talking to others also. After that, we will topple the Aam Aadmi Party government in Delhi. You can also come. Will give ₹25 crore and contest the elections on BJP ticket.”

Kejriwal attributes these purported attempts to destabilize his government to the positive work undertaken by the AAP in the national capital. Despite facing various challenges, Kejriwal claims that the people of Delhi have tremendous affection for the AAP, making it challenging for the BJP to defeat them in elections.

A team from the Delhi Police visited Mr. Kejriwal’s residence on Friday to serve notice, but individuals at his home reportedly declined to accept it. The police team revisited the Delhi Chief Minister’s home on Saturday, successfully delivering the notice to officials present at his residence.

In connection with the poaching allegations, Delhi Minister Atishi was also served a notice today. The investigation unfolds against the backdrop of heightened political tensions in the region.
