PM Modi Takes Swipe at Kharge for ‘400 Paar’ Remark: ‘I Pray You Keep 40 Seats’
Congress Rajya Sabha leader Mallikarjun Kharge’s recent ‘400 paar’ (crossing 400 seats) statement, ‘I Pray You Keep 40 Seats’ PM Modi
In a sharp retort to Congress Rajya Sabha leader Mallikarjun Kharge’s recent ‘400 paar’ (crossing 400 seats) statement, Prime Minister Narendra Modi delivered a scathing speech in the Rajya Sabha, terming Kharge a source of entertainment and expressing his hope that Congress at least secures 40 seats in the upcoming 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
Referring to Trinamool Congress supremo Mamata Banerjee’s assertion that Congress may not even cross 40 seats in the 2024 polls, PM Modi quipped, “I pray that you keep 40 seats with you.” Taking a dig at Kharge’s ambitious electoral projection, PM Modi remarked, “As I listened to his speech, I wondered how he got the freedom to speak so much. Then I noticed that those two commanders were not there. Kharge ji thought, ‘when will such an opportunity come again?’ and scored fours and sixes.”
PM Modi didn’t hold back in his criticism of the Congress, highlighting the party’s track record during its rule. He lambasted the Congress for its lack of consistency in leadership and principles, pointing out its penchant for conferring Bharat Ratna on family members and naming roads after them. Expressing dismay at the degeneration of the Congress party, PM Modi questioned its failure to make significant changes during its tenure, including not prioritizing a war memorial and neglecting regional languages.
Responding to Congress’s demand for a caste census, PM Modi accused the party of historical inconsistency, asserting that Congress had previously opposed reservations for Dalits, backward classes, and tribals. He even cited a letter by Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, expressing reluctance towards reservation in government jobs, highlighting the party’s shifting stance over the years.
PM Modi also took a swipe at Congress leader Sam Pitroda, referring to him as one of the party’s ‘margdarshak’ (guiding lights) and criticizing his recent remarks downplaying Dr. B.R. Ambedkar’s role in the Constitution.
Continuing his tirade, PM Modi directed his criticism towards Rahul Gandhi, mocking Congress’s attempt to groom him as a leader. He characterized Gandhi as a ‘nonstarter’ in contrast to the party’s efforts to present him as a ‘yuvraj’ (prince).
Concluding his speech on a confident note, PM Modi hinted at a potential third term for his government, promising further development and expansion of the healthcare sector in the coming years. He reiterated his vision for a ‘Viksit Bharat’ (Developed India), signaling his determination to continue the transformative agenda initiated by his administration.
