The visit, marked by a grand welcome, showcased the rich cultural heritage and architectural marvels of the Pink City, underscoring its prowess in astronomy and town planning. Later in the day, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi joined Macron, and the leaders embarked on a captivating roadshow, parading in an open jeep from the Tripolia gate to Badi Chaupad. The highlight of their journey was a pitstop at the Hawa Mahal, an iconic structure built in 1799, where the leaders savored masala tea at the famous Sahu tea stall. The roadshow continued to the Albert Hall museum, a testament to British architecture dating back to 1887. Modi and Macron explored this cultural gem before proceeding to the Jantar Mantar, an 18th-century astronomical observatory designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The visit underscored the significance of Indo-French ties and the potential to boost tourism in Rajasthan. The leaders' interactions with locals, including a rendezvous at Jaipur's famous Sahu tea stall, were marked by the spirited chants of Modi, Modi and Jai Siya Ram. Macron's itinerary included encounters with artisans and craftsmen at Amber Fort, where he displayed keen interest in traditional crafts, from blue pottery to textile weaving. The visit culminated with a vibrant performance of the Kutchi Ghoda folk dance, adding a cultural flourish to the diplomatic affair. Local sentiments were evident, with residents expressing joy over Macron's visit, anticipating a positive impact on tourism. The meticulously prepared city, adorned with Indian and French flags, resonated with the enthusiasm of Jaipur's residents, underscoring the warm reception extended to the distinguished guest. The Jaipur visit not only symbolized a celebration of cultural exchange but also held broader implications for bolstering diplomatic ties between India and France. Commemorating Subhas Chandra Bose’s Birth Anniversary and the Impact on INA Soldiers(Netaji’s Inspiring Speeches)

Introduction:(Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose Jayanti 2024)
As January unfolds, the nation turns its attention to yet another significant commemoration – the 127th birth anniversary of the valiant Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose. Often overshadowed by grand celebrations of the Republic of India’s birth and the remembrance of Mahatma Gandhi, Netaji’s contributions have, until recently, awaited the recognition they truly deserve. This January 23rd, we delve into the remarkable life of Netaji, particularly his role in rousing the Indian National Army (INA) through his epochal speeches.

Netaji’s Transformation from Party Worker to Soldier :

Netaji’s journey from a dedicated party worker within the Congress Party to a revered soldier is nothing short of extraordinary. Raised in the tradition of Mahatma Gandhi’s non-violence, he considered Bapu as the ‘Father of the Nation.’ However, destiny had different plans for Netaji, as he emerged as a warrior committed to India’s freedom.

Professor Rudrangshu Mukherjee’s insightful work, ‘Nehru & Bose Parallel Lives,’ sheds light on the parallel paths of Bose and Nehru. While Bose envisioned making history alongside Nehru, the Mahatma had already chosen Jawaharlal as his successor, leaving no room for Subhas. As early as January 1942, Gandhi had declared, “… not Rajaji [Rajgopalachari], nor Sardar Vallabhbhai, but Jawaharlal will be my successor.”

The INA Pledge and the Call for Freedom:
In June 1942, Netaji delivered a historic broadcast to the INA from Europe, immortalizing his words as the ‘pledge of the INA.’ In an impassioned call, he urged the brave soldiers to fight for India’s freedom till their last breath under the national tricolour. He reminded them that they had volunteered to shoulder the responsibility of forty crore Indians.

In a heart-wrenching battle at the AFC Asian Cup 2023, India faced a 0-1 defeat against Syria, sealing their fate with no points or goals in the group stage. The match, held at the Al Bayt Stadium, saw Syria’s Omar Khribin scoring the decisive goal in the 76th minute, propelling his team into the knockout stage for the first time in the history of the Asian Cup.

The first half of the encounter concluded with a goalless draw, showcasing India’s promising start and Syria’s dominance towards the end. However, India’s hopes took a hit in the second half when Sandesh Jhingan suffered an injury, leading to his substitution for Nikhil Poojary. The intensity remained high, with both teams coming close to breaking the deadlock.

The pivotal moment arrived in the 76th minute when Syria’s substitute, Omar Khribin, found the back of the net, securing a 1-0 lead. Despite India’s relentless efforts to equalize until the final whistle, they failed to score a goal in the tournament. The defeat meant India’s exit from the 2023 Asian Cup without a point or a goal, leaving them with a challenging road ahead.

The live updates during the match reflected the nail-biting moments:

India Threatening in the Last Minutes at AFC Asian Cup 2023 football

In the dying minutes of the game, India pushed forward desperately, with Akash leading a rapid counter. Despite their efforts, Syria managed to defend, securing their place in the knockout stage.

Syria’s Chance to Extend Lead (Omar Khribin scores to hand Syria 1-0 win)

Cognizant’s CEO Ravi Kumar S Discusses Executive ‘Poaching’ and Business Strategy

In a recent interview at the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, Cognizant’s CEO Ravi Kumar S addressed the controversy surrounding the company’s hiring practices, specifically the recent lawsuits against two executives who joined Cognizant from rival firm Wipro. Kumar emphasized that Cognizant is merely “doing its business” and aims to establish itself as an “employer of choice.”

The focal point of the discussion was Cognizant’s Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Jatin Dalal, who, along with another executive, Mohd Haque, faces legal action from their previous employer, Wipro. Wipro has filed a lawsuit against Dalal, citing a ‘breach of contract’ and seeking damages of ₹25.15 crore. Responding to these legal challenges, Kumar expressed his commitment to building Cognizant as an employer that attracts top talent.

“I am just doing my business. I want to make Cognizant an employer of choice,” stated Kumar during the CNBC TV18 interview. This marks the CEO’s first public remarks on the ongoing situation. He acknowledged the company’s strategy of bringing in new leadership and defended the decision by emphasizing the need to fill leadership gaps and maintain competitiveness.

Kumar highlighted that the hiring process is a continuous effort, and the company is committed to promoting talent from within. “We’re a phenomenal platform… our entrepreneurial spirit is priceless. Our agility in the market is priceless. We have a DNA of client centricity,” he said, underscoring the unique strengths and heritage of Cognizant.

The CEO emphasized his dedication to restoring the core values that have shaped Cognizant’s identity. He mentioned the importance of looking within the organization to fill leadership positions, promoting individuals who align with the company’s values and vision. Despite facing legal challenges and criticism for hiring from competitors, Kumar remains focused on Cognizant’s strategic goals.

“We will always have gaps on our leadership, and we’ll look up to the market. And we will look for teams who want to join on this journey,” Kumar added, indicating the company’s openness to external talent.

The controversy surrounding executive ‘poaching’ is not unique to Cognizant, as other major IT firms like Wipro and Infosys have also faced similar challenges. Kumar’s remarks at Davos provide insight into Cognizant’s perspective on talent acquisition and leadership development. As the company continues to navigate legal issues and build its leadership team, Kumar’s commitment to making Cognizant an ’employer of choice’ remains a key aspect of the company’s strategy.

IndiGo Adjusts Flight Schedules Due to Republic Day Parade Airspace Restrictions

Airport Technology

In preparation for the Republic Day parade, IndiGo, the country’s largest airline, has announced rescheduling and cancellations of some flights around the Delhi airport. The adjustments come in response to airspace restrictions imposed from January 19 to January 26, primarily due to flypast rehearsals for the Republic Day parade.

The airspace restrictions will lead to a temporary halt in flight arrivals and departures at the Delhi airport from 10.20 am to 12.45 pm each day until January 26. The Republic Day preparations and celebrations necessitate these measures to ensure the smooth conduct of flypast rehearsals.

IndiGo, in a statement, acknowledged the impact of these restrictions on its flight operations. Passengers affected by the rescheduling and cancellations have been duly informed of the changes to their flight status. The airline has also provided affected passengers with alternative options or the choice of a refund.

The print

While specific details regarding the number of flights affected were not immediately available, IndiGo, which operates around 1,800 flights daily, has taken proactive steps to minimize disruptions. The adjustments to flight schedules aim to navigate the airspace constraints and facilitate the timely and safe conduct of Republic Day-related activities.

The Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) in Delhi, being the largest airport in the country, handles approximately 1,300 flights daily. The temporary airspace restrictions are a standard protocol during significant events like the Republic Day parade to ensure the security and success of the celebrations. IndiGo’s swift response reflects the airline’s commitment to passenger communication and operational efficiency during such exceptional circumstances.
